Susquehanna University’s oldest living alumna celebrated her 105th birthday Sept. 25.

Dorothy Moyer, of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, marked her milestone birthday with a party among with friends and staff at RiverWoods Senior Living Community, where she lives.

Dorothy graduated from Susquehanna in 1938 with a degree in music. She spent many years teaching private piano lessons to students in Shamokin and Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

She was born in 1914 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Her father was a Lutheran minister and her mother was a school teacher. Dorothy, who grew up in church parsonages, remembers accompanying her father on pastoral visits to his parishioners. She describes her younger self as somewhat of a “Daddy’s girl.”

In recognition of her birthday, Susquehanna sent Dorothy a greeting card, a gift and a bouquet of flowers.
